L.A.N.A. partners with Zion Church, April 2007
Beautification efforts underway
On Saturday, April 28, L.A.N.A. residents and Board members joined
efforts with Zion Church members to begin to beautify and restore glory
to the Church property on West Deaderick and Campbell Street. The church
grounds, playground areas, parking lots and interior of the buildings were the
focal points for Saturday. Seven teams were assembled under the direction of
team leaders, Deacons Gary Neal, Terrence, John and Pastor Jerrell Beard. More
than 50 people took part in the project.
Team leaders arrived at 8:00 a.m. and work began at 8:30 a.m. following a prayer led by Deacon Gary Neal.
Children
helped adults working outside with raking and bagging of leaves, picking up
twigs, planting flowers, and carrying water buckets. Inside the children
helped with cleaning chores.
Adults
handled the bigger projects! Large tree limbs were pruned and removed,
lighting was restored in the outside hallways and entrance areas, overgrown
shrubs, weeds, and debris were removed from the large South parking lot. All of
the grounds were mowed and cleaned. Lawn mowers
and weed eaters were abundant!
Ladies from
the Church were on hand for interior cleaning. Classrooms, kitchens, bathrooms
and meeting rooms were washed down and debris was removed. All rooms were
vacuumed and windows were
cleaned. Teams worked seamlessly together.
At noon,
LANA brought in pizza for all then work continued throughout the late
afternoon! It was a great
day for all involved.
LANA extends a warm welcome to our new neighbor – Welcome ZION Church!
