Mardi Gras Day Celebration
•
LANA's newest special
event is the celebration of Mardi Gras and the season of Carnival. We have
participated is the downtown Mardi Gras Parade several years and plan to
continue that tradition. We also want to start new traditions within our
neighborhood.
It is time again for the LANA's Mardi Gras Kid Parade. It will take place on Saturday February 2 at 11am at Lambuth University.
The line up will be at the Maple St. parking lot at 10 am. This parade is a walking parade, so no motorized vehicles. You can decorate wagons, strollers, bicycles, and yourself. If you want to build a float, it will have to be pushed or pulled.
Throws are allowed, and beads will be available for purchase at the staging area at a cost of $2.00 a dozen while supplies last.
The route will head down Maple to N. Fairgrounds. Turn on N. Fairgrounds and head toward Williams St. Turn left on Williams and head toward Lambuth Blvd. Finally turn left on Lambuth and head back to the parking lot.
Here is your chance to get in on the ground floor of something new for the neighborhood. We need people to help come up with ways of showing off LANA during the Carnival season. If you enjoy the purple, gold, and green breaking up the winter grey, wearing beads and fun costumes, or building floats and having people beg you for gifts to be thrown, please get in touch with us. We need people who like to celebrate and put on a big show to let they rest of Jackson know that we have the most fun in LANA.
Carnival season for 2008 will begin on January 6th and end with Mardi Gras on February 5th. Let's show Jackson how to have fun in the winter.
