Welcome to LANA!
Our Neighborhood is in fact several neighborhoods joined together to form the Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association (aka LANA). From Airways to Forrest and Hollywood to Highland, there are about 2,000 homes and businesses with a wide variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We have a truly eclectic mix of old and new buildings. Some of our homes were built pre-Civil War while intermingled in some blocks are brand-new houses.
Standing majestically at the center of our area is our partner and the heart of our community, Lambuth University, a stately and truly beautiful place. It is also where we hold both our Flag Day celebration and our fall Pumpkin Festival.
Every December, several of our residents and businesses open their doors for the Holiday Home tour, allowing us to see restoration, either in completion or in progress. Each August, on the first Tuesday, our various neighborhoods participate in National Night Out which is filled with fellowship and fun for all.
LANA is striving to become a model neighborhood. Our Government Relations committee is working to ensure our city codes are being met, our Neighborhood Watch programs are building and our Beautification and Neighbor-helping-Neighbor committees are gearing up for the spring.
LANA is successful simply because so many of our residents and business owners are willing to volunteer their time. The entire Board as well as all committees is staffed by unpaid volunteers. All of the projects and programs we offer are volunteer run. If you are a resident, we encourage you to become involved, on your street, your block, serving with the rest of us across the LANA area.
If you are a visitor, we welcome you to this website and encourage you to not only visit each part of this site, but to come visit us in person and experience the real LANA, a safe, secure and thriving place in Midtown Jackson.
